The Heavy Rescue Course is given yearly at the Bergen County Fire Academy. Graduates of the course will be trained in all aspects of basic heavy rescue when the course is completed. Some of the main topics are fire rescue, rope rescue and vehicle extrication. The Newton Fire Department had four firefighters attend this year. They were Asst. Chief Brian Fox, Captain Jeff Schiffner and Firefighters Doug Bowne and Jason Miller.
